Description

René Lequin-Colin Chassagne-Montrachet Clos Devant is a premium French white wine that is highly regarded for its exceptional quality and exquisite taste. Made from 100% Chardonnay grapes sourced from the prestigious Clos Devant vineyard in the Chassagne-Montrachet region of Burgundy, this wine is a true representation of the terroir and the winemaker’s skill.

The grapes for this wine are carefully handpicked and sorted to ensure only the best fruit is used in the winemaking process. After a gentle pressing, the juice is fermented in French oak barrels, where it undergoes regular battonage (stirring of the lees) to add complexity and texture to the wine.

The resulting wine is a beautiful pale gold colour with aromas of white flowers, honey, and citrus fruit. On the palate, it is rich and full-bodied with flavours of ripe peach, apricot, and a hint of vanilla. The wine has a long, lingering finish with a touch of minerality and a refreshing acidity that makes it a perfect match for a variety of dishes, including seafood, poultry, and creamy pasta dishes.

René Lequin-Colin Chassagne-Montrachet Clos Devant is a wine that truly showcases the elegance and complexity of Burgundian Chardonnay. It is a wine that can be enjoyed now or cellared for several years to come, allowing the flavours to develop and mature. Whether you’re a seasoned wine connoisseur or just starting to explore the world of fine wine, this is a wine that is sure to impress.

About the René Lequin-Colin winery

René Lequin-Colin is a small winery located in Santenay, in the heart of the Cote de Beaune region of Burgundy, France. The winery is named after its founder, René Lequin-Colin, who established the estate in 1971. Today, the winery is run by his son, François Lequin, and his wife, Caroline Colin.

The winery owns 9 hectares of vineyards, with parcels located in some of the most prestigious appellations of the Cote de Beaune, including Chassagne-Montrachet, Puligny-Montrachet, and Santenay. The vineyards are cultivated using sustainable and organic methods, with a focus on preserving the natural balance of the soil and the environment.

René Lequin-Colin produces a range of white and red wines, with a particular emphasis on Chardonnay. The white wines are made using traditional Burgundian winemaking techniques, with fermentation and aging in oak barrels. The red wines are made using a combination of whole-cluster fermentation and destemming, with aging in oak barrels.

One of the standout wines produced by René Lequin-Colin is their Santenay Blanc, which is made from Chardonnay grapes grown in the vineyards surrounding the winery. The wine is fermented and aged in oak barrels, with a small percentage of new oak used to give the wine added complexity and structure. The resulting wine is crisp and elegant, with notes of citrus and white flowers, and a long, mineral-driven finish.
